Johnson & Johnson has informed Indian regulators that it soon intends to start clinical trials of its single-dose COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
The company sent a letter to Indias Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) stating that it would soon apply for permission to carry out clinical bridging trials in India, according to a report.
The report comes at a time when many vaccination centers in India are tackling a shortage of vaccine supplies and the country fights a second wave of COVID-19 infections. While the country presently has two vaccines in use, one developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca and the other from Bharat Biotech, other vaccine candidates are undergoing trials in the country, including Russias Sputnik-Vandanother vaccine developed by Cadila Healthcare Ltd… (ET Healthworld – Reuters, April 9, 2021)
